Watching the aurora borealis dance over Lake Superior could easily find its way onto anyone’s bucket list. Last August, forecasts predicted that the largest of Great Lakes would be host to a spectacular auroral green light show. Astrophotographer Ken Williams was able to capture this image of proton arc above the water, not far from Marquette. A proton arc is extremely rare and the photographer captured this image using a 30 second exposure.
