“A little party never killed nobody!”

This weekend, travel back to a time where “the parties were bigger, the pace was faster, the shows were broader, the buildings were higher, the morals were looser, and the liquor was cheaper”.  The First Annual Detroit Gatsby Lawn Party will be taking over Palmer Park on Sunday, September 13 from 11am to 5 pm. The party will harken back nearly a century to the 1920s and will feature dances, drinks, and – most importantly – the fashion from the era.

For anyone who actually did the reading in high school – or just watched the DiCaprio large partiesmovie that came out recently – they should know how great this themed party will be.

The bash should have a great turnout. Tickets are $35 in advance which gives you access to the general events including live jazz music, dance lessons, and vintage cars. There will also a Detroit Jazz History Exhibit. There will be plenty of food, drink, and merchandise vendors on site to help celebrate Detroit’s Golden Age.

It’s a great theme, so of course you have to dress the part. Ladies, grab your flapper dresses and long stings of pearls Fellas, show up looking dapper as hell and start calling everyone Old Sport! It’s going to be quite the shindig.

And for those skeptical few who think they “can’t repeat the past… why, of course you can!”
