This is something we can get behind. Jordan Garland is a local skateboarder, turned filmmaker, and he is trying to change the popular misconceptions about Detroit through film.
Garland is trying to explain a version of Detroit that is largely unseen by the outside world. To most, Detroit is either a post-apocalyptic wasteland, or a bellwether for other post-industrial cities to look towards for guidance. The reality is far different.
Garland is going to let the world see a whole new portrait of Detroit by letting local artists, musicians and extreme athletes tell it. This time, there won’t be a house full of reporters talking about every awful thing happening in Detroit, the voice will be Detroit’s own.
We are excited. It’s coming out next year.
